Program Description
Event Details
Join us outside the Richmond location for an exciting hands-on session in the Exploration Station series! In this two-hour blacksmithing program, Bob Montgomery will kick things off with a 40-minute demonstration, followed by an opportunity for the first 20 kids to try their hand at forging. Each child will work individually with Bob to create their own iron hook.
Important: Participants should be 10 years or older, as working with iron can be physically demanding.
Bob Montgomery, a blacksmith and farrier with 40 years of experience, uses traditional metalworking techniques to craft both functional pieces and sculptures. As a member of ABANA and the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, his work is featured in exhibitions, public art, and private collections. Since the early 1990s, Bob has shared his passion for blacksmithing with students across Kentucky.
