Program Description
Event Details
Just how did rural Kentuckians get books before libraries were established? Come learn about the epic tale of early Appalachian librarians who braved the harsh terrain and conditions of Eastern Kentucky on horseback to deliver books and magazines to rural people during the Great Depression. At this documentary showing, you will learn more about this piece of Appalachian and library history that is directly related to our region. The pack horse librarians have since inspired several books, including Kim Michele Richardson’s The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, which attendees of this program will have a chance to win.
