As always exciting changing times for the library. Always growing to better serve you.

Remember two things:

1.  Always bring your library card when you come to the library.
2.  Always feel free to call with any recommendations or suggestions.  We are always ready to listen.

Sue Hays
Director
Madison County Public Library.

I want to welcome you to our Bragging Pages. I am proud of the services that we offer you as residents of Madison County, and I want you to see how your tax dollars are working for you.

Program attendance and staff involvement

I can’t believe that your library is now 20 years old. You as residents of the county have made it a success.  As you look at the attached Director’s report, I hope you can appreciate all of the dynamics that go into a day at the public library.  These three pages will show you

1.  The number of items checked out—but not the number of items checked in.  They usually match.

2.  The number of people who visit the library in a month. Yes we get repeat visitors.

3.  The number of people who sign up to use computers.  Many of those are repeat also.

4.  The number of people who attend programs and the kinds of programs your staff provides.

5.  Numbers related to new services like downloadable e audiobooks.

6.  The number of new items added to our collections on a monthly basis

7. The number of items we borrow from other libraries for you plus the joy we have had in growing enough that other libraries actually need to borrow from us.

It is our pleasure to serve you.  When you have questions or suggestions as to how we can do this better please let us know.  We are anxious to provide the service that you as residents of the county would like.

One more point, please bring your library card with you when you come to visit or when you call have it handy.  It will help us serve you better and that is our goal.

Your friend,
Sue Hays
Director
Madison County Public Library.

Take a minute and look at my report. The Board sees these statistics every month. In case the jargon makes no sense, AF-Adult Fiction ANF-Adult Non Fiction, JF-Juvenile Fiction and JNF-Juvenile Non-Fiction. Circulation means the number of items that are checked out and taken home. Also always note the number of people coming in the doors, the number of computer users, and the number of library card holders. The library card number reflects the number of people who have used their card at least once in the last year.

Thank you for making the Madison County Public Library a great success. Help us to continue to be a success by letting us know what you need. My door is always open to talk with you at any time about how the library can better serve you. The Madison County Public Library is truly your library and "Your Highway to the World." Take advantage of it!

Your friend,

Sue Hays, Director
